It’s the Year of the Ox and EA chose to celebrate by introducing their newest FIFA ambassador, Chinese footballing superstar Wu Lei. As their first Chinese ambassador, EA wanted to showcase the talent and history of the player and share his wishes of a new year filled with great football. This personal ode to celebration lies at the heart of this creative.

The film utilises a mixed media approach including footage of his career, photos of his youth, international live action shoots and bespoke game capture. All of this was packaged together in a vibrant and dynamic motion graphic treatment that embraced FIFA’s distinct brand energy and style. A fast-paced visual cacophony of sound and vision that captures not only the spirit of the game but also the deep heritage of the nation.

It was a great pleasure to write and direct this new addition to EA’s ambassador series. Working with stakeholders spanning four countries across the globe, the amazing team at Maverick Media, Let’s Film in Barcelona and the talents of Earth London, we produced a worthy successor to the previous ambassador films that feature distinguished international footballers: Kylian Mbappe, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Brede Hangeland, Joao Felix and David Beckham.
