SUMMIT FEVER - 2nd Unit Director

Saban Films / Haymarket Films

Summit Fever is an adrenaline fuelled thrill ride starring Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Thorp.

A daring dream to scale the world’s most challenging trio of mountains soon turns into a terrifying nightmare for a group of friends when a deadly storm traps the climbers near the summit and cuts off all hope of rescue. With the odds stacked against them, the friends are forced to trust each other to save themselves by any means necessary.

Shot at the tops of Europe’s most challenging mountains, I had the great pleasure of second unit directing this feature for director Julian Gilbey. A keen climber, Julian’s ambition for the film was to root it in authenticity. Much of the film was shot at 14,000 feet, with the actors working tirelessly in hostile conditions with the crew and stunt team to achieve some truly breath-taking sequences.

The sequences selected illustrates some of the 2nd unit direction and how it integrates with the main unit photography in the final cut of the film.
